Most posztolta Gavin Searle akkori felvételét arról, hogyan gyújtanak fel erdőket a helyi gazdák, hogy a területet legelővé alakítsák.

A videó alatt leírja, hogy ami most történik az Amazonas mentén, az mind ennek a több évtizede folyó gyakorlatnak az eredménye.

Farmerek ezrei teszik ezt minden évben.

Azt is megírta, hogy ezek amúgy kedves fickók, és nem szabad az embereket démonizálni, hanem megoldásokat kell találni a környezeti problémák okaira.

From 2013 BBC / Keo Films series ‘I Bought a Rainforest’ – I spent a couple of weeks living and working with cattle ranchers in Brazil’s western Amazon. In this clip they’re setting fire to an area of forest they cut the year before – to convert it to pasture for cattle. Much of what we are seeing in the Amazon now is the result of similar practices that have been going on for decades – the cumulative effect of course of thousands of ranchers doing this every year is devastating. These were nice guys though. We must not demonise people – rather we should find new ways to talk about and manage what is a globally important issue. I apologise for the hat. Shot by Gavin Searle
